The news that the perennial OK! cover star Kerry Katona is to play Marilyn Monroe on stage in the forthcoming production of Norma Jeane The Musical was met with appropriate snorts of laughter. But do the blondes have more in common than it might first appear?

Both had troubled childhoods spent in and out of foster homes, and went on to carve careers in the spotlight.

Both battled depression and substance abuse issues, and married three times (well, Katona will have by the end of the year). Anyway, we’ll find out in in September whether Katona’s Iceland ads have given her enough acting experience to take on one of the most enigmatic screen sirens of the last century. Tickets for opening night are looking pretty tempting....
