The slump in summer ratings continues with the latest figures (week ending 23 August) showing average total hours viewed as 23:58, the lowest since the good weather of May and June. The paucity of audience available is reflected by there being just three new primetime series wheeled out in the period: Floyd on Spain (BBC 2, 2.93m); John Bull Business (BBC 2, 1.81m); and Everyman (BBC 1), which failed to chart. Meanwhile, BBC 1's audience share at 31.4 per cent is its lowest of the year.
