The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons has admitted to having ‘no idea’ where his life was going after saying goodbye to Sheldon Cooper last year.

Parsons starred as socially awkward physicist Cooper on the sitcom for 12 years from 2007, with the last episode airing in May 2019.

Now, the actor is set to appear in Ryan Murphy’s new Netflix show, Hollywood, as talent agent Henry Wilson, but admitted to The Globe and Mail that his future had seemed unclear after the end of The Big Bang Theory.

“Ryan approached me at a time in my life and career where I had honestly no idea what was next or what I wanted to do,” he said.

“It was only a few months after Big Bang had ended. I’m not going to tell you what I was looking for, because I didn’t know. I thought I’d know it when I saw it. And then Ryan came along, and that’s all I needed to know.”

Set in 1940s Los Angeles, Hollywood focuses on the film industry’s golden age and stars Darren Criss, Patti LuPone and Laura Harrier.

Ahead of the limited series dropping on Netflix on 1 May, both Murphy and Netflix donated $100,000 (roughly £80,000) to the Motion Picture & Television Fund, which provides care assistance to retired former film and TV workers.
