Black Mirror takes a lot of shots at modern technology, or more specifically the way we use it/our appetite for it, but it's never usually literal.

The show tends to invent fake social networks, fake tech giants and fake gadgets, that bear similarities to existing ones but are never direct parodies.

In new episode 'Nosedive' however, one gag was pretty obviously aimed at the iPhone.

In the scene where Lacie (Bryce Dallas Howard) pulls over her outdated rental car for charging, we see her trying in vain to fit this lead into its port:

Recognise it? It's almost identical to Apple's Lightning cable, which consistently leaves iPhone 4 users struggling to find a charger and now, with the iPhone 7, requires a cumbersome adaptor for headphones:

The episode as a whole, which we placed second in our ranking of the six new episodes, takes Uber's 5-star rating system to extremes, seeing people rate their fellow citizens on pretty much every social interaction.

Charlie Brooker wrote the story for 'Nosedive', though the screenplay ended up being written by none other than Parks and Recreation's Rashida Jones.

You can read our extended interview with Brooker, in which he talks about the new episodes, Pig-gate and where the series is headed next, here.
