Vince Gilligan has issued a stark warning to Breaking Bad fanatics.

The show’s creator has urged passers-by to stop throwing pizza onto the roof of the Breaking Bad house, telling fans: “It’s not cool. You don’t treat people that way”.

Speaking on the Better Call Saul Insider podcast, Gilligan told fans to stop re-enacting the scene in which Breaking Bad’s Walter White lobs a large pizza onto the roof of his home after trying to placate his wife Skyler.

“Let me tell you, there is nothing funny or original or cool about throwing pizzas on this lady’s roof. It is just not funny. It’s been done before. You’re not the first,” he said.

The writer and producer told fans to stop hassling the elderly lady who has lived in the house in Albuquerque where exterior shots of Breaking Bad were filmed for 41 years.

“We’re hearing from her that folks are wandering onto their property, being rude to her, throwing pizzas on the roof,” he said.

“It’s just not funny. It’s been done before. You’re not the first.”

Since the series ended, the house has become a tourist attraction for fans of the show. Gilligan said the owner was fine with fans coming to get their picture taken in front of the house, but should be shown respect when it comes to pizza-tipping.

“This has been ok with her for a long time, that people come by and visit and get their picture taken in front of the house. [The owners] deserve to be treated well.”

The memorable pizza scene in Breaking Bad was reportedly filmed in a single take.

Actor Bryan Cranston said he managed to hurl the giant thin crust neatly onto the roof in his first attempt.

“Only after the cut did we realise – bang on! First try”, he said.
