Love Island will not air on ITV on Sunday night (16 February) “out of respect for Caroline Flack‘s family”, following the death of its former presenter.

The show will return in its normal slot on Monday night, with a tribute to Flack who was found dead at her flat after taking her own life.

An ITV spokesperson said: “Many people at ITV knew Caroline well and held her in great affection. All of us are absolutely devastated at this tragic news.

“After careful consultation between Caroline’s representatives and the Love Island production team and given how close we still are to the news of Caroline’s tragic death we have decided not to broadcast tonight’s Love Island out of respect for Caroline’s family.

Love Island will return tomorrow night which will include a tribute to Caroline who will be forever in our hearts.”

Flack was set to face trial in March over allegations that she had assaulted her boyfriend Lewis Burton at her flat, which she denied.

She stepped down from her role as Love Island presenter following the allegations and was replaced by Laura Whitmore for the winter series.

Whitmore paid tribute to Flack on her radio show this morning, calling out “clickbait” news and online trolls for their treatment of her friend in the weeks before her death.

Tributes for Flack have also been pouring in from industry figures on Twitter.

Others have been calling for Love Island to be axed permanently, while her forthcoming show The Surjury was cancelled by Channel 4.
