Trailer for HBO true crime documentary Class Action Park

People are shocked by the trailer for a new documentary about the “world’s most dangerous theme park”.

The forthcoming true crime documentary, titled Class Action Park, will tell the story of a combined water and amusement park in Vernon, New Jersey, that quickly became notorious for its reckless and deadly attractions.

In the 17 years between when Action Park opened in 1978 and closed in 1996, a total of six deaths were confirmed to have occurred there. Countless serious injuries were also recorded.

Twitter users have reacted to the documentary’s alarming new trailer released on Wednesday (19 August) with excitement.

One user wrote, “Had no clue I needed this documentary in my life until now. Can’t wait.”

Another said. “Omg move over Tiger King. This looks INSAAAAANE cool.”

In the trailer, a compilation of voice-overs details the events which unfolded at Action Park, including alleged electrocution and decapitation. One person speaks about a thrill-seeker being “impaled on a bull” while another “fractured their vertebrae”.

Attractions at the theme park included a water slide featuring a 360-degree closed loop, and an infamously rough wave pool. In a single week in 1982, two people died on extreme water rides in the park.

Comedian Chris Gethard says, “Nobody should ever be the second person to die in a wave pool. Close the f****ing pool.”

The highly anticipated documentary will also investigate how the park’s owner, Eugene Mulvihill, was able to keep Action Park open for nearly 20 years despite the numerous incidents and deaths.

“Nobody would give him insurance, so he created his own insurance company and he insured himself,” added one talking head featured in the trailer.

Class Action Park will land on HBO Max on 27 August.
