The cast and crew of hit TV series Glee have attended a private memorial service for the late actor Cory Monteith.
The actor, who played Finn Hudson in the show, was found dead in his hotel room on Saturday 13 July.
A coroner’s report revealed the 31-year-old died from an overdose of heroin and alcohol.
The actor’s co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele was in attendance at the memorial service yesterday.
She was joined by members of Glee’s cast, including Kevin McHale, Dianna Agron, Darren Criss, Jenna Ushkowitz and Harry Shum Jr.
A spokesman for the show’s producers 20th Century Fox said the service, which was held at a private location in Hollywood, was an “emotional celebration” of the actor’s life.
“We thank the public for their continuing outpouring of love and support as we grieve for our friend and colleague during this difficult time,” he said.
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, also in attendance at the service, revealed plans earlier this week to do a memorial episode in tribute to Monteith.
Plans are underway to pay tribute to the late actor in an hour-long special in the show’s forthcoming fifth series.
He also confirmed that Monteith’s character Finn Hudson will not be re-cast.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “When we do the tribute episode to that character, we’ll have to do it in a way where the cast member will not have to re-create feelings of grief that they’ve had this week- but do it in an upbeat way.”Reuse content
