Game of Thrones season 7: Lena Headey doesn't see Cersei’s Iron Throne reign lasting very long

With her son Tommen dead, along with pretty much everyone else in King’s Landing, Cersei Lannister found herself sat on the Iron Throne at the end of Game of Thrones season 6.

It’s proven a pretty precarious seat the pasts few seasons however, so will she be able to hold onto it for very long in 7?

“No. Surely not! Not a chance in hell,” Lena Headey, who plays the scheming queen, told EW. “It’s a moment of punctuation in the madness.”

It remains to be seen exactly who will dethrone her, though the finale hinted that it could well be Daenerys Targaryen, who is finally headed to Westeros.

As exciting as it would be to see Cersei and Dany in the same room, Headey is most excited about a Cersei/Tyrion reunion.

“I’m as excited as anyone to get Cersei and Tyrion back together. It just works,” she said.

“Those two characters are so interesting because there’s so much hate, yet slight respect too. They’d kill each other if ever given the chance.”

She added that the ‘right person’ to kill her off “has to be Arya or Tyrion” and that she isn’t concerned about her character’s potential death “as long as it’s kinda glorious and gory”.

As Daenerys closes in on King’s Landing it will be interesting to see where Jon Snow heads, the newly crowned King in the North set to learn next season that he is related to Dany.
