Gordon Ramsay plays Read My Lips on Saturday Night Takeaway

Ant and Dec were forced to apologise after TV chef Gordon Ramsay appeared to swear during an episode of Saturday Night Takeaway.

During the first segment of the show, Ramsay had to help members of the public win big prizes by playing the game Read Your Lips, where he guessed what food-related word the caller was saying.

However, one of his guesses appeared to be an expletive beginning with the same letter as the correct word.

After the player eventually won £250, Ant McPartlin turned to the camera and said “I do have to apologise for your language halfway through that.”

A surprised Ramsay asked: “What did I say?”

“It may have sounded like a swear word – might not have been, but it may have sounded like one,” McPartlin said.

The moment was ironic given the presenting duo had earlier joked about installing a “bleep machine” for the notoriously sweary Ramsay.

“Imagine putting @GordonRamsay on live TV and not expecting him to swear,’ one viewer commented on Twitter.

Ramsay recently made headlines after explaining why he insisted that his children travel economy class while he enjoyed first class.

The TV chef has five children aged between 22 and one with wife Tana, with the family splitting their time between their homes in London and Los Angeles.

“When it comes to holidays, I told them, ‘Don’t you dare waste that f***ing money flying first class from here to New York,’” he told The Sun. “’We all f***ing take off together, we all land together. Think what else [you can] do with money.’”

“When they ask if they can pop up to us for some nice food, we say, ‘No you f***ing can’t’, so now they take their own picnics on board, and they’re absolutely fine in economy. I mean, what 14-year-old needs to sit in a reclining chair?”

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway airs at 7pm on Saturdays on ITV.
