Edwina Currie and Jake Quickenden are set to enter the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! jungle in tonight, after Gemma Collins’ not-so-shocking exit.

The former Conservative MP and the X Factor hopeful will join existing contestants including Michael Buerk, Jimmy Bullard, Melanie Sykes and Carl Fogarty in the camp.

Meet the I'm A Celebrity contestants

For 26-year-old Jake, heading down under to Australia is a dream come true. “Things like this don’t happen to me,” he says. “I am just a normal bloke. It’s a real adventure and it is going to be so much fun. I actually haven’t stopped grinning since I got offered this.”

Edwina, meanwhile, is no strange to the reality TV world, having also starred in Hell’s Kitchen and Strictly Come Dancing.

Following in the footsteps of Nadine Dorries, she thinks politicians will be split on her decision to take part in the show.

“Some of them will be saying ‘What is the programme like?’ If there is any logic in politics, which there isn’t, my political opponents will be voting for me to stay in and my political friends will be going ‘No, let’s get her home as quick as we can’.”

Edwina was invited onto the very first I’m A Celebrity but turned it down. “It is nice to get asked again and I do hope I come out of in in tact!” she says.
