Jake Gyllenhaal 'meets' Larry David backstage at SNL

Jake Gyllenhaal met Larry David backstage at SNL and things ended exactly as you’d expect.

The actor was appearing on the comedy series for a musical skit alongside his Sack Lunch Bunch co-star John Mulaney, while David was returning to impersonate Bernie Sanders for an opening that saw “politicians” discuss the coronavirus.

While preparing for their respective appearances, Gyllenhaal decided to take some time out to meet the Curb Your Enthusiasm writer-actor in his dressing room.

In a joky video posted as his Instagram story, the Nightcrawler actor can be seen opening David’s door.

“Larry, hi – Jake,” he says, extending an outstretched hand to greet him.

David immediately responded: “What is this – shaking? You’re shaking?! What are you? Nuts? That’s all. No more shaking.”

Gyllenhaal, acting perturbed, leaves the dressing room, saying: “You’re right.”

The staged moment could be a scene directly lifted from Curb, which is currently airing its 10th season on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.

Earlier this week, it was reported that SNL regular Pete Davidson was ruffling a few feathers behind-the-scenes due to the "star treatment" he receives from creator Michael Lorne.

The comedian himself had earlier expressed his desire to leave the show in an interview.
