Jerry Seinfeld has hinted at a Seinfeld reunion, which will air 'very, very soon' (Reuters)

Jerry Seinfeld has revealed more about the “secret project” he alluded to earlier this month on Reddit, which he confirmed will include Seinfeld characters.

Rumours began to circulate that the comedian was filming a comeback episode of the sitcom when he was spotted with co-star Jason Alexander outside Tom’s Restaurant, a backdrop used in many Seinfeld episodes.

Speaking on US radio station WFAN, Seinfeld hinted that his new “secret project” will involve some form of Seinfeld reunion, but was elliptical about the details.

“It’s neither a SuperBowl commercial which is one rumour, and it is not an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee [his popular web series]. But it is not not those things either. It’s a secret project,” he said.

However, he did confirm that other Seinfeld actors were involved in the show, with Jason Alexander reprising his character George Costanza. He also confirmed that Seinfeld co-writer Larry David was involved in the “ short-ish form” project.

The comedian refused to answer questions about which company filmed the project, but did indicate that the show would be a one-off special saying it was a “one in done”.

He added that fans would get the chance to see the project “ very, very soon”.

The Seinfeld cast last reunited in 2009 during season seven of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Seinfeld originally aired for nine series on US network NBC from 1989-1998. The popular sitcom set in New York’s Upper West Side won a Golden Globe for Best TV series in 1994.
