John Oliver releases spoof book about Mike Pence's gay rabbit

Mike Pence has a book coming out this week. Not a book written by Pence, or about Pence himself, but about the Vice President’s pet rabbit Marlon Bundo.

“An objectively good name for a bunny,” John Oliver said on Last Week Tonight after a blistering segment on Pense, covering the politician’s controversial views on multiple subjects, including women in the military, the Disney movie Mulan, and gay marriage.

One notable moment came when discussing James Dobson — a friend of Pence who started the group Focus on the Family, who back gay conversion therapy.

One of the stops on the Marlon Bundo book tour, which will see the rabbit travel around the United States, includes dropping by Focus on the Family.

“Coincidently,” Oliver told the audience, “we also wrote a book about Mike Pence’s rabbit… And it’s published right now.”

Titled A Day In The Life Of Marlon Bundo, Oliver’s book has already been published online and tells a slightly different story about Marlon Bundo .

“A few small differences: you’ll notice our rabbit has a bow-tie,” the host said. “Also, our book is about Marlon Bundo falling in love with another boy rabbit because our Marlon Bundo is gay, just like the real Marlon Bundo.”

“This isn’t an adult book telling Mike Pense to go f**k himself,” Oliver added. “Although that’s exactly what you would be doing by buying it.”

The book, aimed at children, features a simple love story about two male rabbits falling in love but unable to get married because of the rule-making stinky bug. Luckily, the animals all come together to help love win.

All proceeds from the book will go to Trevor Project and Aids United, while the audiobook features the voices of Jim Parsons, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ellie Kemper, RuPaul, and John Lithgow. Watch the full segment below.

Meanwhile, Oliver recently tackled cryptocurrency, saying that investors aren’t investing at all, they’re gambling.
