Anime world is paying tribute to Goku star

Prolific anime star Kirby Morrow, who also appeared in Stargate Atlantis, has died at the age of 47.

The Canadian actor was known for his voice work in shows including Death Note (Teru Mikami), Dragon Ball Z (Goku) and X-Men: Evolution (Cyclops).

Morrow died on Wednesday (18 November), but a cause is yet to be announced.

His brother Casey announced the news on Facebook, writing: "Kirby was a blessed and talented individual who brought joy to so many but also thrived off all your love and friendship.

Since 1996, the actor racked up an impressive amount of credits with small roles in TV shows including Bones, Supernatural and Arrow.

His most famous performance was as Captain Dave Kleinman in Stargate Atlantis from 2005 to 2006.

He returned as the character in 2010’s Stargate Universe.

The anime world has paid tribute to Morrow with his Inuyasha co-star Kelly Sheridan, writing: "It seems at every important stage in my career, he was there at the mic right next to mine. My good luck charm.

Ninjago co-creator Tommy Andreasen said: “When he first auditioned for the role of Cole, he was our first and only pick to portray the rock of the Ninjago Team.”

Fellow voice actor Kellen Goff remembered Morrow for his work as Hot Shot in Transformers: Cybertron, calling him his “childhood hero”.
