Marisol Nichols’ life as an undercover agent working to catch sex traffickers is being turned into a TV show.

In May, the actress, best known for her role as Hermoine Lodge on Riverdale, revealed in a Marie Claire cover story that she has been working alongside the FBI as a volunteer helping to catch sex traffickers.

Nichols’ role consists of acting as bait for would-be predators, sometimes pretending to be an underage child and other times pretending to be the parent of an underage child.

On Monday, Deadline announced that Sony Pictures Television would be turning Nichols' story into a new TV series.

According to the outlet, Nichols, who has spent the last six years pursuing predators, will be executive producing and likely starring in the show.

The actress first became interested in working to stop child traffickers after playing roles on shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Law & Order: SVU and Cold Case.

“It gave me mad respect for these guys,” she told Marie Claire of those dedicated to fighting the issue. “It sparked my interest in the trafficking world, realising and really being on the other side of the underbelly of society.”

In 2012, when her career slowed down, the 46-year-old began to learn more about child trafficking by speaking with individuals and organisations involved in the issue.

Two years later, the actress founded her non-profit Foundation for a Slavery Free World. She has also used platform to speak out about child trafficking and the potential dangers children face on the internet.

According to Deadline, the project is in the early stages of development.
