Peep Show series 9: David Mitchell and Robert Webb reunite to film final season
The El Dude Brothers return for the last time
Peep Show co-creator Sam Bain has posted a photo of David Mitchell and Robert Webb reuniting to film Peep Show, which is sadly coming to an end after nine series.
There is little to glean plot-wise from the photo, other than there looks to be a scene coming that takes place on a tennis court.
Last year, Channel 4’s head of comedy, Phil Clark, said that the series is “definitely the last,” adding to the Radio Times: “I’ll be very sad to say goodbye to it.”
Peep Show launched the careers of now household names Mitchell, Webb and Olivia Colman, perfectly encapsulating the dreariness of post-millennium life in an overpriced London flat.
Jez and Mark have been on a schadenfreude-laden downward trajectory since season one, and the creators have no plans for things to turn around for them a la Only Fools and Horses.
“They will be in horrible pain as usual,” Webb told the Daily Mirror. “They will not win the lottery, they will not have a happy ending.”
Also discussing the El Dude Brothers’ fate with the Radio Times and the potential for a sequel in the future, Bain added: “We don’t plan to kill them off, so the opportunity to do more would be there if we chose to.”
Peep Show series 9 has yet to be given an air date by Channel 4.
