Sophia Lillis – budding star of both smash TV series Sharp Objects and the latest movie adaptation of Stephen King's It – has been cast in the lead role for new coming-of-age show I Am Not Okay With This, which will be produced by the same team behind Stranger Things.

According to reports, Lillis's character, Sydney, will be a teenage girl with mysterious, and potentially problematic, telekinetic powers.

The show is an adaptation of a graphic novel by Jonathan Entwistle, creator of another Netflix hit The End of the F***ing World, which has also been confirmed for a second series.

Consisting of eight half-hour episodes, I Am Not Okay With This will follow Sydney and her journey through the trials and tribulations of high school, as well as family issues and her budding sexuality. Not to mention the mysterious superpowers that are beginning to manifest within her.

Wyatt Oleff – another wonder kid from the cast of It, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – has also joined the show's cast as an "adorably awkward" non-jock.

I Am Not Okay With This will be released on Netflix in 2020.
