There's a lot of sadness in the world right now, and Ed Balls did all he knew he could do to help: by doing a really, really dumb dance on Strictly Come Dancing and momentarily cheering the internet.

The former Labour shadow chancellor secured himself a place on the dancing competition's Blackpool show next week by performing a spirited rendition of Psy's 'Gangnam Style' with partner Katya Jones, complete with the track's signature horse-riding move performed by Balls over his partner. What a twist.model Daisy Lowe became the eighth contestant to leave the show

The performance earned a standing ovation from the crowd and left the judges rather speechless; with head judge Len Goodman conceding, "I don't think there's words in the dictionary to describe that."

Goodman did admit the show would be significantly "less fun" if Balls were to leave; Bruno Tonioli labelled it the "best worst dance I've ever seen", while Craig Revel Horwood could only utter, "OMG." Famed dancer Darcey Bussell did, however, declare the performance, "will go down in Strictly history."

Audiences certainly seemed to agree the performance was a sight to behold; which will hopefully aid the pair when it comes to the public vote, since their score of 25 currently puts them at the bottom of the leaderboard ahead of the Sunday results show.

Model Daisy Lowe left the show after losing out in a dance-off with long jump champion Greg Rutherford after performing her salsa to Groove Is In The Heart by Deee-lite with professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec for a second time.
