Trailer for season 4 of Bron/Broen is released

Fans of Danish/Swedish drama The Bridge were surprised when the trailer for a forthcoming season unexpectedly dropped on Thursday (17 August).

The Nordic noir's Facebook page posted a 50-second trailer teasing the grisly events to come led by detectives Saga Norén who will, once again, be played by Sofia Helin.

It seems the new run of episodes will be thematically the same to what's come before with the trailer featuring a woman being stoned to death and a machine gun rampage through Copenhagen

The fourth and final season was confirmed earlier this year with a release date set in Denmark for 1 January 2018.

A UK broadcast date is yet to be announced

Creators of The Bridge - which began in 2011 - have promised that the final season will offer a resolution to the long-standing mystery surrounding the missing family of detective Henrik Sabroe (Thure Lindhardt).

The Bridge was one of the shows to lead widespread acclaim towards Scandinavian TV dramas alongside The Killing and Borgen.
