The Night Manager writer David Farr 'not keen' to pen a follow-up despite 'lots of pressure'

His comments echo those spoken by the series' lead actors Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie

The Night Manager - the BBC series based on John Le Carré's novel - drew to a close last month having gripped millions of viewers throughout its six-episode run.

Those fans who were holding out for a continuation, however, should let go: writer David Farr has quashed all expectation of a second series.

When asked if he faces expectation to write a follow-up project, he told Variety: "There is lots of pressure but I’m not keen."

"Personally, I liked the fact that the story ended where the story ended," he continued. "But that’s entirely personal. Given the characters, there is a potential for something more to happen, and I’m sure someone could find the right idea. But for me, it’s done."

"My simple feeling is that I wouldn’t be able to make the next one as good. But I would love to work with Le Carré again and we are talking about future projects.”

Farr's comments echo those spoken by the show's leads Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie who recently dashed hopes of a second series when promoting the series in the States.

The Night Manager follows Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston), a former soldier tasked with infiltrating the inner circle of ruthless arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie).

Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, and Elizabeth Debicki also starred while Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier directed all six episodes.
