Just weeks after debuting on the streaming service The Punisher has been renewed for a second season.

Marvel has made a habit of renewing their Netflix series, with second seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage having already filmed, while another Iron Fist season has been confirmed.

The Punisher follows on from Daredevil’s second season and sees Frank Castle exacting revenge on those who murdered his family, with actress Deborah Ann Woll — who played Karen Page in Daredevil and The Defenders — making an appearance.

The first season — which ran for 13 episodes — was met with mixed reviews, many critics praising Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of the titular character great but finding the conversation regarding gun control within the series uneven.

Originally scheduled to debut at New York Comic-Con, the series premiere was delayed due to a mass shooting in Las Vegas earlier this year.

A release date for the second season of The Punisher has not been announced. Marvel has meanwhile offered a first trailer for Jessica Jones’s second season.
