Fear the Walking Dead - the spin-off to AMC's ever-successful series The Walking Dead - debuted last year to record-breaking viewing figures.

Starring Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis and Frank Dillane, the show - originally set in Los Angeles - throws the timeline back to the initial outbreak and follows a family whose search for safety takes them to the high seas.

Now halfway through its second run, producer Gale Ann Hurd has hinted that another spin-off could arrive one day in the future.

In an interview alongside The Walking Dead actor Michael Cudlitz (Sgt. Abraham Ford), Hurd told The Independent:

She said:

"You know at this point there’s only so much bandwidth. I'm never going to say never but at this point obviously we have the challenge on Fear the Walking Dead where we’re filming in Mexico so we’ve added another country to our quiver. It's wonderful to examine what the zombie apocalypse is like in a different culture."

So while there are no current plans to broaden the universe even further, it seems if the right idea was presented, a third Walking Dead series could very possibly be added to the franchise.

Upon its initial airing, Fear the Walking Dead's premiere was the most watched episode in cable TV history.

The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season on 23 October with its UK airdate arriving the following day on FOX. Season 6 will be available to own on Blu-ray and DVD on 26 September while Fear the Walking Dead's first season is now available to view on Amazon Prime.
