Twin Peaks season 3 teaser trailer sees David Lynch return as detective Gordon Cole
He couldn't resist another cameo
Showtime has released a 32-second clip of a man eating a glazed doughnut - naturally, it’s Twin Peaks related.
The teaser sees the show’s writer-director David Lynch back in the role of Gordon Cole, a hard of hearing detective with a penchant for pie to rival Agent Dale Cooper’s.
It pretty unequivocally confirms that Cole will feature in the new episodes, being titled ‘Twin Peaks | David Lynch Returns as Gordon Cole’.
Twin Peaks season 3 has a bumper cast of 217, with many actors reprising their roles and a host of new ones heading to the fictional small town in Washington.
New additions include Michael Cera, Laura Dern, Sky Ferreira, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Trent Reznor, Tim Roth, Amanda Seyfried, Tom Sizemore, Naomi Watts and Sharon Van Etten.
David Bowie was lined up to make a cameo appearance as FBI Agent Phillip Jeffries, his character from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, but died before filming.
The new season was shot as one long, continuous film and will be carved into episodes during post-production.
It doesn’t yet have a release date more specific than ‘2017’, but was originally expected in 2016 so will likely arrive in the first half of next year.
