Michael C Hall continues to bring nuance to the central role, as he attempts to settle into a "normal" life with girlfriend Rita and her two kids. A solid cast is added to with the introduction of a magnificently underhand Jimmy Smits as the local DA, with whom Dexter plays a helter-skelter cat-and-mouse game of life and death. Killer stuff.
