Tens of thousands of birds take to the skies in Snettisham Spectacular

Tens of thousands of birds have taken flight over the Snettisham nature reserve in Norfolk to find new feeding grounds.

Around 50,000 wading birds have been seen flying from the mudflats to lagoons to seek out new food as high tides push them closer to the shore.

While the birds can be seen on the highest tides between mid-July and late May, the best time to see them is from August to January.

Waders, pink-footed geese, Godwit and other birds can be seen making the journey to new grounds in the phenomenon known as the Snettisham Spectacular.
