Games review: Crackdown 2
£49.99
Format Xbox 360
Publisher Microsoft
The original Crackdown was basically a superhero platformer transplanted to a GrandTheft Auto-style sandbox universe; the sequel picks up where that left off. There’s not much that feels especially fresh here, and it doesn’t make the gameplay leap you might hope for in a sequel. The plot is also predictable, and best ignored. Still, the core leaping, battling mechanic – which you deploy to fetch power-up orbs and defend shiny beacons from hordes of enemies – remains just fun enough tomake this a reasonable purchase for enthusiasts of its predecessor.
