Games Review: Terminator: Salvation
PS3, Xbox 360, PC, £39.99
In this third-person shooter, set two years before the events in the latest movie, players assume the role of future resistance leader John Connor. The graphics are serviceable, and battles usually require use of the game’s well-implemented cover mechanic, with players cautiously flanking enemy forces to expose their concealed weak points, but this is a formula too often repeated. There is some variation in the guise of “on-rails” chase sequences, but neither they – nor an offline splitscreen coop mode – are enough to elevate this title above mediocrity.
