Webcams prove more popular than phone calls
Graduates spurn conventional communication in favour of more innovative tools, such as instant messaging and webcams, according to a survey by Plantronics.
The study also found that the lack of these technologies in most of the UK’s offices may be stifling graduates. Among the key findings were that 63 per cent of managers feel that recent graduates communicate less vocally than their colleagues, forsaking face-to-face and telephone conversations in favour of e-mail; 82 per cent of graduates feel self-conscious about conducting telephone calls in front of colleagues; 77 per cent of graduates feel using a webcam would enable them to respond more quickly and personally to clients.
