Demanding travelers looking to holiday like the US President can now do so, for the first time in years.

George Bush favored a Camp David Christmas vacation, whilst Bill Clinton stayed put in the White House most years. However, US President Barack Obama, along with the First Lady and daughters Malia and Sasha, is currently vacationing at a resort that is available for hire by guests looking for a destination with a pedigree.

Obama and his family flew to Hawaii, where the President was born, on Christmas Eve to stay at Plantation Estate next to the spectacular Kailua beach. The center courtyard of the complex they stayed in contains a lagoon-pool, complete with tropical waterfalls and a spa, whilst the living quarters, covering 4951 square feet (500 square meters), are stone-tiled with stained glass and etched windows. There are five bedrooms and a media room, along with a garage for three cars.

"The Winter White House is a perfect balance of security and luxury," said David Zimel, owner of developer Paradise Point Estates. "In addition to the lava gated entry and water on two sides, the estate is highly functional as a luxurious family retreat and a presidential office."

Plantation Estate is situated on Oahu island, the most populated of the Hawaii islands. Situated on the east side of the island, it overlooks Kailua Bay, the offshore Mokulua Islands and the Ko'olau Mountain Range, and is around 20 minutes from Honolulu Airport. Prices range from around $2000 (€1386) per night to $4000 (€2772) per night for a short-term stay, according to a Paradise Point spokesman.
