Monday and Tuesday's selection comprises the reopening of a mythical tourism site in Peru, the first tastings of the Bordeaux 2009 vintage, Chopin's anniversary celebrations in Vienna, among other events.

Machu Picchu reopens

Tourism officials have confirmed that Machu Picchu, the most visited site in South America, will reopen March 29 following the devastating rains that blocked access to the ancient Inca site. Access will initially be restricted (partially by bus) until the full rail link is restored, expected by July at the latest.


"En primeur" 2009 Bordeaux

Chopin's 200th anniversary

For the bicentennial of Frederic (Fryderyk) Chopin's birth, many cities are paying tribute to one of the most well known composers of romantic music in the world with hundreds of events organized throughout 2010, and Vienna, a city that the composer knew very well, is a key location. The Austrian capital is organizing an exhibition dedicated to the time the composer spent in Vienna in 1829 and 1830-31 at the Vienna Haus der Musik from March 30 to April 30. The exhibit includes documents, photographs, posters and letters, and will also present live concerts by students of the Vienna Conservatory and the Academy of Music in Kraków, Poland. http://chopin2010.pl
