This weekend's selection: the World Design Congreess in Beijing, the International Festival for African Fashion in Niamey, Niger, and a Wine Weekend in Hong Kong.

World Design Congress in Beijing
October 24-30
Beijing/China

Chaired by Icograda - the world body for professional communication design - the event in Beijing, China features design presentations, discussions and workshops, including "five days of exchange and dialogue within the international design community'' according to organizers, with more than 100 speakers from around the world.

China Tea Expo in Beijing
October 24-27

The CTE - China's largest tea industry gathering - features a World Tea Forum, seminars and tastings. Last year more than 13,000 industry representatives attended, from 350 international companies. China's 297,000 tonnes of exported tea was valued at US$682 million ($475 million euros) last year and accounted for a fifth of the total international tea trade.

International Festival of African Fashion
October 25-November 1
Niamey/Niger

This biennial event invites international African designers to meet and share their views in a fashion event that also spreads a message of peace and highlights African creativity through modeling, haute couture but also musical genres such as hip-hop. FIMA (Festival International de la Mode Africaine) celebrates its 10th anniversary this year in Niamey, Niger.

Wine Show in Hong Kong

Part of the Food and Wine year celebrations launched in April, and before the imposing Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival, this three-day Wine Festival @ Cyberportfest is a small gathering of wine-makers from all over the world. Cyberport offers public tastings, but the festival also includes a first-time "Wine Angel" competition, with the aim of finding a "First Lady" for wine promotion in Hong Kong.
