The Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof will have his first appearance in Cannes today after one year in prison been banned in 2010 from making films and travelling outside Iran for 20 years due to his film called Anonymous, which was removed from the official list of titles in the run up to Cannes.

Today he will be presenting his latest production Manuscripts Don’t Burn. His previous successful film Goodbye won the best director prize in the Un Certain Regard section at the festival in 2011, but since he was arrested, his wife had to pick up the prize.
