The beleaguered NHS non-emergency phoneline has hit more controversy, with NHS Direct seeking to pull out of most of the contracts it provides. Now NHS Direct, which used to do a similar job to 111 nationally, has said these contracts have become “financially unsustainable”. NHS admits failing patients but hopes to improve the service and the quality is maintained.
