BBC viewers tuned in to an unusual BBC title sequence with a seemingly empty studio and chair after a confused Nicholas Owen managed to miss the start of his own bulletin. After a brief pause, the presenter slipped into shot and sat down, offering an apology for the “confusion”.

Shakira got quite the Oxford treatment after a 15-strong, all-male group of university students released an acapella version of her dance hit “Hips Don’t Lie” hoping to raise money for charity. The Colombia singer tweeted she “loved it” and the video has gone viral.
