Independence Day in the United States provides Americans with the opportunity to go all out with exuberant celebrations, donning garish outfits of red, white and blue and eating their body weight in hot dogs, apple pies, s'mores and beyond.

There are some celebrities who take their Fourth of July festivities very seriously, commemorating the annual occasion with parties, feasts and – of course – the usual slew of relevant hashtags on social media.

Who can forget Taylor Swift's star-studded 2016 Independence Day party, where her then-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston was pictured wearing an "I Heart T. S." tank top in the ocean?

This year, one of the most stand-out celebrity celebrations of them all came in the form of television producer Ryan Seacrest, who shared a photograph of himself and Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host Kelly Ripa standing on an enormous, pink, inflatable float.

From Robert Downey Jr being dunked in a tank of water to Ciara co-hosting this year's Macy's fireworks display, click through the gallery above to see how celebrities in the US marked their country's Independence Day.
