Heinz and Cadbury create Creme Egg-flavoured mayonnaise concoction

If you regularly reminisce over childhood dinner staples like smiley potato faces, turkey dinosaurs and Findus Crispy Pancakes, then you’re in for a treat.

On Monday, Domino’s announced on Facebook that it is launching a limited-edition pizza that’s topped with tinned spaghetti.

Dubbed the “Hawaiian Spaghetti Pizza”, the dish also features chunks of pineapple, glazed ham and lashings of mozzarella cheese.

But, before you get too excited, there’s a catch – the pizza is only available in New Zealand.

Sharing a picture of the pizza on its Facebook page, Domino’s New Zealand wrote: “This is no joke!

“We’ve officially added Hawaiian SPAGHETTI pizza to our menu for a limited time only, with help from our friends at Wattie’s NZ! (no April Fools this time).”

News of the launch was met with plenty of interest online as the post garnered more than 2,000 likes and 5,000 comments.

However, the non-traditional toppings have divided opinion on social media, with many saying they can’t wait to try it while others insist the ingredients should never be eaten together.

“Spaghetti on a pizza is actually really nice,” one person commented.

“Should do one with beef mince and cheese. Spaghetti bolognese pizza.”

Another person wrote: “I have made my own pizzas using spaghetti and pineapple ..love it!”

A third added: “How long is this around for!! So so keen, thanks for listening Domino’s!!!”

In contrast, some Facebook users said the addition of tinned spaghetti was a step too far.

“Um no thanks, spaghetti doesn't belong on a pizza!” one person wrote.

Another added: “I’d rather lick the floor of a bus.’”

While a third person commented: |How about officially un-adding it from the menu.”

In March, Deliveroo announced the re-launch of one of its most popular pizzas – the Heinz Beanz Pizza.

The dish, which was discontinued in 2003, was brought back to celebrate Heinz’s 150th birthday and was topped with a combination of tomato and basil sauce, mozzarella, 350g original Heinz Beanz, mature grated cheese, and a sprinkle of Maldon salt and fresh ground pepper.

Much to the disappointment of bean fans, there were just 150 limited-edition Heinz Beanz Pizzas available per restaurant, whilst stocks lasted.
