Gigi Hadid may be in the middle of a month-long slog of fashion shows that has taken her around the globe, but the model has found time to post a lengthy rant on social media, addressing critics who have commented negatively on her body image.

"Yes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I'm not asking for special treatment. I'm fitting into sample sizes. Your mean comments don't make me want to change my body." Hadid argues.

The 20 year old model appeared in the Versace spring/summer 2016 show in Milan earlier this week and posted an image of herself on the catwalk on Instagram which attracted 367,000 likes and over 2,000 comments but some of those included negative comments relating to her body shape, prompting the wordy rant which appears in full below.

Hadid, 20, shot to fame last year when she appeared in numerous magazine editorials, landed major ad campaigns and walked in countless catwalk shows. Just this month she has appeared on the catwalk for the likes of Diane Von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger and Jeremy Scott. Last week she was also announced as the face of the new Balmain x H&M campaign also starring Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn.

"If I didn't have the body I do, I wouldn't have the career I do. I love that I can be sexy. I'm proud of it."

Hadid who appeared on US reality TV series 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' in which her mother Yolanda Foster starred, is part of a new-generation of models, many of whom including Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin have famous parentage.

Hadid has previously been outspoken about not using her family name to achieve a career she told the Independent last year:

"Yeah on one side we [Kendall Jenner and herself] have great families that ahve been in the spotlight and have taught a lot on that side of things, but we also have the work ethics to back it up. And I just want to be someone that is known because they like to be working with me, even when they don't know about my mum."

Hadid again addressed the issue in her online rant today stating:

"You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I am a hard worker that's confident in myself"
