The 68th Cannes Film Festival kicked off last week with a fittingly glamorous opening act.

The first notable appearance of the festival came from Sienna Miller - who started as she means to go on decked out in Balenciaga for the event's opening press conference.

Later, the red carpet was rolled out for the grand opening ceremony event. Miller changed into a navy blue one shoulder Lanvin gown. She was joined by Julianne Moore in a black embellished Armani Prive dress.

Lupita Nyong'o held centre stage in an emerald green Gucci gown with chiffon layers which she waved around for added drama.

Naomi Watts opted for a pale blue embellished gown by Elie Saab complete with show-stopping feathered skirt. Whilst Natalie Portman chose a stripped back look in a strapless red Dior dress.

An extra dose of glamour was provided by the attendance of a troop of supermodels - Karlie Kloss and Doutzen Kroes decked out in Atelier Versace accompanied by Liya Kebede in Louis Vuitton.

Day 2 did not disappoint with Charlize Theron making her festival debut - first at a press conference wearing a fringed leather design by Valentino and later on the red carpet in a show stopping bright yellow Dior couture gown.

Day 3 of the film festival saw Emma Stone make her debut, the actress opted for a white embroidered backless gown by Dior haute couture - simple and modern especially against Cheryl Fernandez Versini's in an over the top Ralph & Russo couture gown.

Day 4 attracted a whole host of stars to the red carpet - Diane Kruger wowed in an embroidered Prada gown with sheer side detailing. Jane Fonda opted for a show stopping Atelier Versace gown complete with cut-outs while Sienna Miller wore a patchwork Valentino design.

And it may have been Sunday but there was no let-up in the glamour yesterday with the likes of Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek and Cate Blanchett out and about.

The second week saw a host of Victoria Secrets models fly in for the festival - Lily Donaldson, Sara Sampaio and Adriana Lima were out in force on day 6.

Day 8 saw Kendall Jenner fly in to make her Cannes film festival debut - the model made her mark on the red carpet in a cropped top and skirt combo by Alaia.

The final weekend of the festival was dominated by festival juror Sienna Miller who chose two very different but equally stylish gowns for the closing ceremony - first a layered dusky rose number by Gucci, then a powder blue full skirted gown also by Gucci.
