After last year's Moscow extravaganza, Chanel's head designer Karl Lagerfeld has relocated to Shanghai to show his annual Maison d'Arts collection, which will be shown on the evening of December 4 at the city's freshly inaugurated boutique.

The luxury brand has been releasing little preview snippets of the production via its website chanel-paris-shanghai.com, ranging from a visit of Chanel's Parisian ateliers to Lagerfeld shooting the press kit.

On December 3, one day before the premiere of the collection, the designer even posted a new short movie portraying brand founder Coco in her Paris apartment.

Coco Chanel herself never traveled to Shanghai but had a known passion for the local art and antiques, which have served as inspiration for this year's collection. All Maison d'Arts locations so far, ranging from Tokyo to New York and Monaco, were linked to the fashion legend in one way or the other.

The show can be watched online from December 4 or December 5, depending on your geographic location. Chanel's Shanghai boutique at the Peninsula Hotel has been open since November and carries exclusive products such as a red quilted handbag (with a 'Shanghai Karl Lagerfeld' tag), a red tweed jacket and mousseline stoles and blouses with flower prints.
