Nadege Vanhee-Cybulski to succeed Christophe Lemaire at Hermes

French luxury group Hermes this morning announced Nadege Vanhee-Cybulski is to take over after the departure of its artistic director Christophe Lemaire

After four years at the helm of luxury fashion house, Hermes and Christophe Lemaire have announced an end to their partnership with a successor named this morning.

In the week that saw the announcement of the departure of Christophe Lemaire from Hermes, the company CEO has announced his successor, French designer Nadege Vanhee-Cybulski.

"I am delighted to be joining Hermès, a house I so admire and whose values I share wholeheartedly" she commented this morning.

Vanhee-Cybulski is a French designer best known for her work behind-the-scenes at fashion houses including Maison Martin Margiela, The Row and Celine.

"Her talent and her creative track record will be great assets in the continued development of women's ready-to-wear. She will devote herself full-time to our house" commented Alex Dumas, chief executive office of Hermes.

This follows the news earlier this week that Christophe Lemaire who was appointed into the role of artistic director in June 2010 following the departure of Jean-Paul Gaultier, will now be focusing on his own label.

"Working for Hermès has been a great pleasure: a profoundly enriching experience on both a human and professional level. I am proud of what we have built together" Lemaire said.

"My own label is growing in an important way and I now really want and need to dedicate myself to it fully"

The presentation of the spring/summer 2015 collection which will be shown in Paris on October 1st will be Lemaire's last for the house. Vanhee-Cybulski is then set to takeover with autumn/winter 2015 her first collection which will be presented in March next year.

"I am very grateful to Christophe for the passion with which he has addressed and enriched the expression of our house in women's ready-to-wear" said Dumas.

"Under his artistic direction the métier has renewed its aesthetic and produced very satisfactory financial results. I wish him the greatest success with his own label which is so close to his heart".
