When Kanye West hosts a fashion show, it's never going to be a quiet affair, but last night the rapper-turned-designer outdid himself with a show/album release party at Madison Square Gardens.

The event marked the opening of New York Fashion Week and saw West show his third Yeezy collection, a collaboration with Adidas.

A rather motley crew of an audience assembled; many of them to hear the rapper's new album 'The Life of Pablo,' a smattering of fashion editors including Anna Wintour and Carine Roitfeld, plus the usual celebrity entourage of Jay Z, Tyga, Jaden Smith and which included the Kardashian clan (of course).

Whilst the show itself started fashionably late, opened by West who introduced his new album before unveiling his collection.

The show itself saw hundreds of models take to the stage including the likes of Alek Wek and Veronica Webb all clad in the Yeezy Season 3, with the show closed by supermodel Naomi Campbell sporting a black bodysuit, Yeezy Boost trainers and a fur coat.

In a leaked picture on social media, it was revealed that the models were given a rather lengthy set of instructions for their time on the stage which included 'no eye contact' 'do not act cool' 'no sharp movements.'

As for the collection it was much the same as previous season - bodysuits, puffa jackets, leggings - with the addition of a splash of colour.

Of course it wouldn't be a Kanye West occasion if the rapper didn't take to the mic; shout outs went to Carine Roitfeld (the former editor of French Vogue) for putting his wife on the cover of her magazine CR Fashion Book.

Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing also got a mention and was thanked for dressing his family, their outfits designed a week ago in Paris, a collaboration between West and Rousteing.

No Kanye West fashion show would be complete without the appearance of the Kardashian family and last night they made their presence known - entering the arena on mass decked out in white fur coats and embellished outfits designed by Balmain's Olivier Rousteing.

Kim, who was making her first major public appearance since the birth of the couple's second child chose the opportunity to debut newly dyed blonde hair. Whilst it also marked a first public appearance for Lamar Odom - husband of Khloe Kardashian, since he was hospitalised last year.
