Author of 'The 4-Hour Workweek' cooking up new chef book

In the latest of his 4-Hour book franchise, bestselling author Tim Ferriss is promising readers they can become a master chef in the time it takes for bread dough to rise.

Ferriss, the infomercial-type pitchman whose maiden book The 4-Hour Workweek has been on the New York Times Best Sellers list for four years, is penning a culinary installment that promises to make master chefs of its readers effortlessly.

The 4-Hour Chef will feature recipes and cooking guidelines from world-renowned chefs in addition to offering Ferriss's own advice in line with his trademark 4-hour philosophy.

Amazon Publishing, an arm of, announced this week that it will be publishing the book in various mediums including print, enhanced digital and audio formats.

If his previous titles are any indication, the food version in the series will also likely be heavy on the hyperbole with promises of fine dining and the mastery of mad cooking skills in mere hours.

His first book, for instance, promises to be a step-by-step guide on how to acquire a luxurious lifestyle with strategies that include outsourcing your life to overseas virtual assistants; traveling the world without quitting your job; eliminating 50 percent of your work in 48 hours; and exponentially increasing your income.

His second book, The 4-Hour Body, also shares how Ferriss gained 34 pounds (15 kg) of muscle in 28 days in four hours of gym time and instructs readers on how to lose 20 pounds (9 kg) in 30 days without exercise, sleep two hours a day and feel fully rested, and produce 15-minute female orgasms.

The latter part is divided into two chapters.

The new cookbook will also feature recipes based on the Slow Carb Diet from The 4-Hour Body.

Ferriss's 4-hour philosophy is similar to another series which uses measurable results to pitch the good life. The 80/20 Principle: The Secret to Achieving More with Less by Richard Koch is another popular title for readers looking to get more bang for their life's buck.

Meanwhile, celebrity chef Charlie Trotter penned a how-to cookbook that brings haute cuisine to the masses with Gourmet Cooking for Dummies.

The 4-Hour Chef is scheduled to be released April 2012.
