In a bid to boost sales after the coronavirus pandemic, Pret A Manager is launching a subscription service.

The service is named YourPret Barista and is launching on Tuesday 8 September at £20 a month.

Those who sign up will get their first month for free and can use the offer to order up to five drinks a day, which adds up to 150 drinks a month.

Subscribers will be able to order barista-made coffees, teas, smoothies, frappe drinks and hot chocolates on the deal.

“As people across the UK begin to get back the things they’ve missed, our new subscription service is perfect for customers who have been craving one of our barista-prepared drinks,” said Pano Christou, chief executive at Pret.

Christou explains that the drinks subscription idea is to support the fact that coffee sales have been the quickest to grow after high streets reopened.

The coffee and sandwich chain reopened 367 of its UK premises last month, but due to trade declining 60 per cent year on year, it is set to close 30 of its branches and made 2,900 job cuts this month.

“This is just our first step in our plan to bring Pret to more people,” said Christou. “We now have the building blocks to establish Pret as a multi-channel, digitally led business. And YourPret Barista is the first big launch we’re able to deliver through our new technology platform.”
