Most sporting events are associated with a frothy cold beer, however with the FIFA 2010 World Cup taking place in South Africa, more attention has been placed on wine. But beer fans, there is no need to fret, food blog Slashfood has created a World Cup Beer tournament.

The World Cup Beer is a basic chart of international beers divided into the samegroups of nations as the FIFA event so even if your favorite soccer team loses your beer could still win. Unfortunately, it looks like only very popular brews were selected such as Heineken for the Netherlands, Foster's for Australia and Sapporo Draft for Japan.

But it still provides a great opportunity to try out some new brews from Chile, Serbia, Korea and Cameroon while watching the rest of FIFA's World Cup.

To tip your favorites for the first round, simply vote for one beer in each of the eight groups A-H by June 21.

On June 23 the top 16 will be announced and continue to compete for a spot in the Quarter Finals.
