Current Google Insights trends: Ines Sainz, Miss Italia, Lady Gaga

A Mexican sports reporter, the winner of Miss Italia and Lady Gaga were among the top Google Insights trends this week.

Mexican sports reporter and former Miss Universe contestant "Ines Sainz" was the Google search term with the most significant growth this week. The reporter, named one of 'The five sexiest sports reporters in the world' by men's magazine FHM, has recently been in the news after allegedly being subject to sexual harassment from American football team the New York Jets.  

Nineteen-year-old Francesca Testasecca was crowned the winner of Italian beauty pageant "Miss Italia" on September 13, making the competition the second most searched of term last week.

The launch of Halo Reach, the latest edition to the Halo series of Xbox games, generated sales of 200 million dollars (€152 million) on the first day of its release and had people flocking to Google to find out more about the game.

Celebrity Lady Gaga, known for her outrageous antics, most recently wearing a dress made of meat to the MTV video awards, has generated more publicity by her decision to join a rally in Maine on September 20. The pop star will be joining with the Service Members Legal Defense Network to campaign against the US military's controversial rules which prohibit service members revealing if they are gay.

The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days as measured by Google Insights, recorded on September 20 at 8:30 AM GMT are:

1.      ines sainz (breakout*)
2.      miss italia (+650%)
3.      halo reach (+180%)
4.      lady gaga (+120%)
5.      mtv (+100%)
6.      bancolombia (+70%)
7.      chase online (+70%)
8.      4od (+50%)
9.      e okul (+50%)
10.    dizi izle (+40%)

*Breakout defines a search term that has experienced a change in growth greater than 5000 percent.
