What’s this? A sequel which improves the more tiresome aspects of its predecessor while expanding on all that was special – whatever next? Set within Renaissance Italy, Assassin’s Creed 2 sees the player assuming the role of Ezio Auditore, Italian nobleman and, following the murder of his family, revenge-seeking assassin. Mission variety superior to the original ensures staleness is kept to a minimum, while assassinations are handled more intuitively and thrillingly. Silky animation, erudite plotting and fanciful use ofLeonardo da Vinci’s inventions are the icing on the cake.
