Billed as a “fright simulator”, Ju-On: The Grudge is the horror genre’s take on the party game. If you’re familiar with Japanese horror films you will know what to expect from its five scenarios: eerie houses, freakishly jointed ghouls and a cacophony of silence-piercing shrieks. Slow character movement and use of the Wii remote as a torch to pierce the shadows creates a convincing atmosphere of dread. Sadly, the effect is diminished by clumsy controls and a lack of variation in the scripted moments of horror.
