Gaming pirate in daylight robbery
Wow – it seems that digital crime really doesn’t pay. Quite the opposite, in fact.
An Australian man, James Burt, has had his wrist slapped (and his credit rating destroyed) after being caught uploading ‘New Super Mario Bros Wii’ to the web. Nintendo launched legal proceedings, resulting in Burt being ordered to pay the games company a whopping $1.5m (£840,000) settlement, “to compensate Nintendo for the loss of sales revenue caused by the individual’sactions”. An expensive mistake.
