No room for Nintendo Land, Mario Bros. U or ZombiU in Black Ops 2 dominated chart

The week's all formats games chart sees bespoke Wii U games miss out on the top 10

The Nintendo Land-bundled Premium 32GB pack saw 60% of the hardware sales, with the ZombiU Wii U pack accounting for 30%. That meant only 10% of opening weekend Wii U customers opted for the Wii U 8GB Basic pack, perhaps highlighting concerns over storage space on Nintendo’s new console.

The Wii U’s top three selling titles at least found themselves in the top 20, with Nintendo Land at No11, New Super Mario Bros. U at No 14 and Ubisoft’s ZombiU at No17. Of course Nintendo have yet to reveal how many Wii U’s sold (and whether the machine sold out) which could explain the lack of Wii U specific titles in the top ten.

The Wii U’s ports – FIFA 13, Assassin’s Creed 3, Skylanders Giants, Just Dance 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – did at least make an impression (though with the help of their Xbox 360 and PS3 counter-parts); while Activision’s Black Ops 2 continued to dominate its rivals in the run-up to Christmas.

Highest new entry meanwhile was Far Cry 3, Ubisoft’s excellent sandbox shooter finding itself in second position following the ninth best launch of 2012.

Predictions for next week: Paper Mario: Sticker Star for 3DS.
